Hampton Roads always has and always will have a larger then average number of families relocating to or from the area. The Navy is constantly shifting people all over the world to and from our local bases. In addition to the Military we have a large number of medical facilities employing Doctor’s who often relocate as Hospitals today often have facilities in multiple states and when needed move their staff to other locations. Meeting the needs of all families is what it is all about, many years ago you found 3 or 4 generations living in the same town. Years ago people would stay in the town they grew up in through the working years and maybe retire to a more enjoyable climate like Florida or Here in Hampton Roads. Times have changed and kids go off to college and apply for jobs across the country, In many cases vacations to visit family in other cities turns into a desire to relocate.
