Suffolk Virginia – Good times!

Although it’s not as flashy and famous as Virginia Beach, or as dignified as Norfolk, Suffolk Virginia is a very nice town. Hampton Roads Peanut Capital. It has all the charm and grace of a smaller community, but located close enough to larger cites that residents can still enjoy a full and varied life.

The City of Suffolk has worked very hard to create a series of special events and activities that provide local residents with something to do, and also help attract people from the neighboring towns who are looking for a fun, interesting way to pass some time.

Great Dismal Swamp Birding Festival

The city of Suffolk has done a great job figuring out to incorporate their proximity to the Great Dismal Swamp into a way to entertain the locals and to attract visitors to their local community. In April, the swamp plays host to the Great Dismal Swamp Birding Festival. This is the perfect way to celebrate spring. The weather has finally gotten warm enough for you to enjoy the outdoors, and wildlife experts will guide you through the swamp, educating you about the different birds that call the swamp home and pointing out some truly excellent photo ops. The event is free and family friendly. In addition to the guided tours, you’ll learn about bird banding, be invited to canoe through the swamp, and participate in several fun workshops.

Legends of Main Street: A Suffolk Ghost Walk

Ghosts have enjoyed a recent surge in popularity, and Suffolk has decided to join in on the fun. Even though it’s a fairly new event, the Legends of Main Street: A Suffolk Ghost Walk has already become wildly popular. The event takes place over several days and isn’t for the easily frightened. This event takes place over several weekends. Although kids are invited to partake in the ghost walks, organizers advise parents to consider how easily their young children get scared.

Pork and Pinot Evening

Virginia has long been the birth place of several fine wines that have been admired by experts all over the world. You don’t have to be a wine expert to enjoy the Pork and Pinot event held in Suffolk during an April evening. This provides adults with an excellent excuse to arrange for a babysitter and enjoy some grown up time. In addition to some really good wine, you’ll be able to feast on barbequed pork, listen to some great local entertainment, and talk with other adults who live in the area. It’s a wonderful evening that everyone enjoys.

The Shake, Rattle, and Roll Car Show

Who says that the best car shows are in Michigan? Virginians enjoy cars just as much. The Shake, Rattle, and Roll Car Show provides local car lovers with a great opportunity to enjoy some car races and make some memories with your family. In addition to watching the antics taking place on the quarter mile track, you will also be able to enjoy the food provided by vendors, kid friendly events like the pedal car races and hula hoop contest, and see all of your favorite neighbors.

Choosing a Home Made Easy…
Don is completely dedicated to making his clients happy, not simply selling houses. Don worked tirelessly introducing me to the area and making sure I knew where I wanted to be, and then really took the time to find out exactly what I wanted. I am so happy with how seamlessly this whole process came together. After hearing horror stories of other first-time home buyers’ experiences, I can honestly say mine was a dream! Thanks Don.
